Zack participated in the Ballwin Kidz Tri-athalon on Sunday the 23rd. He swam 75 yards, biked 2 miles and ran 1 mile. He ran to the finish line which is truly amazing to me. His total time was 28 mins., 55 seconds. We are so proud of him, way to go Zack!

Zack was in the 9 - 12 year old category. Here they are lining up at the pool prior to the race start. They lined the kids up by race number so he had his race number, #444, written on his right hand.

 |
| Zack was number 444 and his age group started with number 386 so he had to wait a little bit. |

After they get out of the pool, they run to the transition area, dry off, put on their socks, shoes, shirt with the race number, helmet and head out for the bike ride. It was about 50 degrees this morning so a bit chilly when you just got out of a warm pool! Of course the temps. didn't keep Andy and George from having a free sno-cone. I didn't get a picture of their red and blue faces when they were done.

After the bike ride, back to the transition area to drop your bike and helmet and head out for the run.

| Zack right after the race. He did it! He is totally zonked. Time for some gatorade and a banana. |
A few of Zack and George's friends also did the race. It was fun watching all the kids compete. They are amazing little guys. Way to go kids! A couple of the top girl finishers were from our summer swim team. I learned a lot about how all this works. Next year we're planning to enter all three Swayne boys. There is a 5 - 8 year old category. They do a 25 yard swim, 1 mile bike and 1/2 mile run. Get ready George and Andy.
Way to go, Zach!! Impressive!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, this was a very impressive event. I don't think I could complete something like this...even at his age level challenges. Wow, way to go Zack!
