Joe had eye surgery today to correct the cataract in his right eye. He had the left eye done last fall (click here to see the post). All went well and he is home resting now. He follows-up with the eye doctor tomorrow and assuming his vision is 20/20, Joe will no longer need to wear glasses after 33 years! He isn't sure how he feels about it although I think he looks quite handsome. He will need reading glasses. According to the guys at work, you buy these at the dollar store. Who knew.
We received a note from school last week that Zack was one of the two winners of the 1st grade spelling bee and would be competing in the all-school spelling bee last Wed. morning. He did a wonderful job! It started with 17 kids and each child had to spell a word from their grade level. After everyone spelled their word, the kids who missed a word were asked to sit down. Zack tied for 5th place. Yay for Zack!
We had a great weekend party hopping and spending time with lots of friends. We went to a fish-themed birthday party and the goodie bag was a beta fish. The boys are quite thrilled with their pet fish. He is pretty with lots of red so his name is "Red Hopper". First name "Red", last name "Hopper". We also went to the softball party and another birthday party/Super Bowl party. Joe and I managed to win the squares for the 3rd and 4th quarter, woohoo!
A funny quote from the weekend: "Andy has PPSS, post-paci stress syndrome". To explain, Andy is working on using his pacifier only in bed or in the car. He started last week and sometimes it stresses him out so he starts walking around with his fist shoved in his mouth. He's getting much better with it each day.
Only 10 days until George's play-doh party..........he turns 4 on Feb. 14th. Wow!

Awesome party invitations, way to go Geek!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure George is counting down the days and hours until his Play-Doh party!
Wow, life without glasses after so long would be weird but it would definitely be a good weird!
Way to go Zack in the spelling bee.
I love the fish name. It's so funny to see what they come up with.
ReplyDeleteHow's the recovery going for Joe? I hope he's doing well and enjoying a glasses free life. Hard to imagine...
