We're back in the central time zone! We closed on our home in Fenton on Dec. 28.
Our house in Georgia closed on Dec. 29 which was three months to the day from when we signed our listing agreement. Mom said this morning, "Aren't you glad to be out of the housing business?".
As we bid farewell to Georgia, a few random thoughts.....
I've been in the eastern time zone for 10 years, I'm still adjusting to when things start on TV in central time. Missouri will be the 6th state I've lived in: Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Florida and Georgia are the first five. Paulding County, Georgia was the second longest I've lived anywhere at 9 years. Eldridge, Iowa was number one at 10 years. My boys were all born in Georgia, Joe and I were born in Illinois.
Farewell to #25 Clay Court nestled in the land of impressive pop-up thunderstorms and rolling hills covered with trees, red clay and the world colored yellow with pollen in the spring, bright blue skies in September and amazing fall colors in the mountains, snow days for an inch of snow falling and the place where you can be fixin' to do something for as long as you want, whether that be 10 minutes or 10 months or 10 years.
I've been fixin' to write this post for a long time since the hardest part is leaving our dear friends who have touched our lives in countless ways. You are our Georgia family. I won't list names for fear of forgetting someone. Thank you for your friendship, kindness, the laughter and the tears. We knew we could count on you to share in our joys and support us during the sorrows. You have a special place in our hearts and we are better people for having known you. Until we meet again, may the Lord bless you.
Beautiful post.... good to get the memories and thoughts out while they are fresh. I know how much your GA family means to you, yet now you will get to extend your family even more to the great friends waiting for you in Fenton! Enjoy this time of new beginnings! Your family is truely blessed! LOVE YOU ALL!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful house! I sent the card to your mother's address? Did you get it?

Thank you for your friendship over the years. You really helped me get through last deployment. Hoping your 2011 is filled with lots of new adventures in Missouri, and some great new friendships :)
