Welcome Henry Joseph Werth!

My little sister Jalene and her husband Joe welcomed Henry Joseph Werth into the world on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 6:30 a.m.  He weighed 7 lbs., 8 oz. and was 20 inches long.  They've made it through the first week and are all doing well.  Welcome Henry!  We are so happy to have you in our family.  

 Here's a cute update from my little sister I got this morning:

"Highlights that took place during Henry's first week of life:

- Sleeping 2.5 hours straight one night (Mommy really liked this one)

- Pooping regularly (who knew you would talk so much about poop and be so excited about poop)

- Peed on self during a diaper change --10/17/09

- Impressive head and neck control at less then a week old (look out Henry really is going to be a tough guy)

- First tummy time on the couch with Grandma Hested showing off his impressive head/neck strength

 Always, treasure your sleep!"

Henry is the 6th boy in our family, my parents' grandchildren are, in age order: Alex, Emma, Zack, Benjamin, George, Andrew and Henry.  As my mom keeps saying, "what's with all these boys?"  Dad said he doesn't just need a bigger boat, he needs a fishing ship.  We are driving up to Illinois for Thanksgiving to meet the little guy.   

We've been enjoying fall here in between dodging raindrops.  October is typically the driest month of the year in Georgia and this October has been anything but typical.  We had enough rain last week to bring up all the creeks and rivers that flooded in September again although thankfully it didn't close everything down.  George's field trip to the pumpkin patch has been postponed twice due to rain and flooding at the location of the field trip.  When I told him it was flooded, again, he said, "they need to clean that up!"  

We went apple picking the first weekend of October.  This outing is one of my favorite family trips of the year.  We drive about 85 miles north to the mountains to Ellijay and visit the B.J. Reece apple orchard.  We also have a fall picnic at a nearby state park.   

Zack and George did a great job picking apples and the apple cannon is a favorite of all the boys, especially Daddy.

 

 

We also enjoyed a hayride.  Well, almost everyone enjoyed it.  Andrew was getting tired and didn't think too much of the whole thing.

Andrew had his 18 month check-up this month and weighed in at 22 lbs. (10th percentile) and is 33 inches tall (75th percentile).  We're just tickled he is on the charts for weight.  He's been 3rd percentile for a long time which is really more like, he's not even on the chart.  No walking yet despite being cast free.  He's pulling up and moving around.  He really likes to drive his Spiderman cart all over the house.  Joe thinks Andy is going to be a Nascar driver, just go straight to driving and skip the whole walking thing.

Joe and I celebrate our 8 year wedding anniversary tomorrow, Oct. 20th.  I'm going on a field trip with the kids to the Rock Ranch and then Zack has a make-up soccer game tomorrow night.  Seems appropriate to celebrate our anniversary at the soccer field after 8 years and three kids.  We are going out to dinner just the two of us on Wed. night.  Yay! 

Final thought, we drive by lots of little churches around here and they all have signs out front with a saying on them that changes week to week.  My favorite recently spotted sign said:  Coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous.
