The much anticipated first day of school went very well yesterday. Zack started in 2nd grade and George in Pre-K4, both at St. Rose Academy. George goes from 8 a.m. - noon and is one of 9 boys and 3 girls in his class. His teacher has known him since before he was 2 so they're already good buddies. Zack's class has 14 this year and he gets to use a locker for his backpack and play shoes. Very big deal for a 2nd grader!
Zack said he was being a superhero in the picture by himself. He has been counting down the days for quite some time. I got a few tears in my eyes when they pulled away yesterday in Joe's car but recovered quickly with my morning cup of coffee and Andy to help. When we came back inside, he said, "Me no go. Down." He wanted me to put him down so he could go play!
One other funny story, George is supposed to bring a snack each day. We asked him on Saturday what he would want since we were making the grocery list. He kept saying "little cut sandwiches, squares and triangles." So Joe made George a 1/2 PBJ sandwich and cut it into one square and two triangles. Mrs. Snyder (his teacher) said George loved his snack and ate every bite. Little cut sandwiches, what a hoot.
